Ensemble le Palais royal

The Palais royal - directed by Jean-Philippe Sarcos

Vocal and instrumental ensemble using authentic instruments

The Palais royal is an ensemble with a new style, dedicated to interpreting Baroque, Classical and Romantic music. The ensemble brings together an orchestra which uses authentic instruments and a choir of young singers specialised in interpreting early music.

The Palais royal’s concerts are characterised by a real search for meaning.  As a result, the Palais royal tries hard to find original ways of helping the public become familiar with the works interpreted. The concerts are often theatrically presented with special attention given to spacing and staging. The singers perform without using sheet music and stand in a mixed voices formation in order to maximise expressivity and to ensure that every artist is involved in finding the meaning within text and music.

The name of the group evokes the musical life of the European courts in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries.
